Facebook business pages are going to be redesigned on mobile with a focus on local businesses. 1.6 billion people are connected to small businesses on Facebook and these updates have been designed specifically with small, local businesses in mind. These updates are intended to make it easier for Facebook users to carry out a variety of tasks, such as make restaurant reservations, book salon appointments, view upcoming events and offers and see most recent photos. You can also now see Stories on Pages so that you can learn more about the business and get to know the people that work there.
Currently there are more than 80 million small businesses using Facebook’s business tools.
Here’s what you can expect from the new update:
- Recommendations – people are using these to request information about their local area and Facebook has decided to make recommendations more prominent on pages. Recommendations are different to reviews and are a more organic way of advertising.
- Events – used by 700 million people each month. Connecting people via events and enabling people to purchase tickets within Facebook has seen an increase in ticket sales. Tickets sold on Facebook sell at two times the rate of when people are taken to an external site.
- Jobs tool – Facebook has made the jobs tool more accessible and easier to find. This is a nod to the fact that local businesses are producing more than 60% of new jobs. The job application tool will also be expanded to have a global reach.
Make it easier to find a local spot – users can now browse a local section on the Facebook app and also the Facebook Local app to see the most recommended places and what your friends and people in your area are up to.
These are exciting updates to help both local businesses and residents get the most out of their community.
